BMW Group named "Design Team of the Year" at red dot awards Summer 2007

Receiving eight awards for innovative design in household and kitchen, automobile, and motorcycle products, BMW Group was named "Design Team of the Year" at the red dot Awards in Essen, Germany.

BMW Group DesignworksUSA, won two of the eight red dot awards in the household and kitchen works category for the ecopod e1, a compact recycler for aluminum cans and plastic bottles, and Talea Touch, a fully automatic coffee percolator from Saeco. The ecopod E1 series is the first ever at-home compact recycler for plastic bottles, aluminum cans and glass available for consumers at Williams Sonoma. The Talea Touch customizes a broad range of coffee specialties with a simple one-touch system designed with refined dynamic surfaces and contrasting colors. The red dot award is one of the most significant marks of approval for successful design. The prize is awarded in numerous categories, including transport, industry, architecture, leisure activities, household, office, as well as computer and entertainment electronics. This year 2,548 products from 43 countries were nominated.
